Environnement du Leti

A unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment

With its research centers, university campus, 500 foreign companies and 40,000 scientists, engineers and technicians employed in the area, the Grenoble-Isère region, otherwise known as France’s Silicon Valley, mixes world-class intellectual and scientific dynamism with exceptional quality of life. It is the ideal springboard for Leti’s expansion.

The region’s diverse features include:

Centers of research excellence representing almost 21,000 jobs:

CEA-Liten, INRIA, Université Joseph Fourier, Institut Louis Néel, Institut National Polytechnique Grenoble INP, ESRF, ILL.

To expand Grenoble’s scientific ecosystem on the world stage, the city has unveiled a new project, known as “GIANT”.
The brainchild of the Grenoble city council, GIANT (Grenoble Isère Alpes NanoTechnologies) is envisioned as a “French MIT” to rival the world’s leading technology clusters. This goal is based on two key pillars:
-Massive urban regeneration throughout Grenoble’s science park to accommodate new engineering schools and research laboratories specializing in nanotechnology, biology, energy, instruments, basic research and technology management.
-Redevelopment and enhancement of the city center to include new housing, retail outlets, parks and sports facilities.

A first-rate university campus, home to 60,000 students (15% of the Grenoble urban-area population)

With the “Grenoble Université de l’Innovation” project, Grenoble’s university is set to make it onto the Shanghai Jiao Tong University list of the top 50 universities in the world. Key to this is fostering scientific and teaching links between the various academic and scientific bodies in the city (the Saint-Martin-d’Hères campus and science park) across four key domains:
- Innovation, Knowledge and Society
- Information Society
- Health and Lifestyle
- Sustainable Development and Energy

High-tech companies, including multinationals, SMEs and startup:

STMicroelectronics, Sofradir, Soitec, Schneider Electric, ARM, BioMérieux, Capgemini, France Telecom, Bull, Soitec, Atmel, Trixell, Ulis, Silicomp, Teamlog, PolySpace, Tronics Microsystems, ScalAgent, Sofileta, Teem Photonics, Movea.

An exceptional place to live:

- At the heart of the French Alps and the gateway to Switzerland and Italy
- 30 minutes from major ski resorts
- 250 km from the Mediterranean
- Numerous cultural events and festivals and endless opportunities for leisure pursuits
